We are going lo-fi to bring you the first DemoCamp Winnipeg!
DemoCamp,
also known as BarCamp, originated in Palo Alto, California as a way for developers to share software, websites, and other new media products
they've created or working on with one another. DemoCamp events come
together organically and are updated via an online Wiki. Attendees
register via upcoming.org and then update the official DemoCampWinnipeg website with photos, links, and comments from the event.
Many DemoCamps can last a couple of days but for our first event we'll be keeping it short: from 6:30 pm - 9'ish, on Thursday, May 29/08, on the 2nd floor of The King's Head in the Exchange. If you are interested in doing a 10 or 15 minute launch of a recent
product or you'd like to display/demo an early prototype of what you
are building, we welcome you to sign up at upcoming.org
and leave a comment about what it is you plan to show. You do not need
to demo a product to attend! We will only have time for 4-presentations
so presenters will be selected on a first-register first-demo basis,
however, we will take note of everyone interested in doing a
demo, and those people will go to the top of the list for next time.
The rules for the first DemoCamp Winnipeg are this:
1. you've got between 10-15 minutes to present
2. rehearse your talk
3. don't plan on having wi-fi access (it may or may not be working)
4. absolutely NO Powerpoint slides - do you have working software to show or not?
5. plan to answer questions afterward (no more than 5 minutes)
We look forward to seeing you out!
Kevin
