You must register in advance for this event.

What do Steve Wozniak (the co-founder of Apple), and New Media Manitoba both have in common?
We both love workin' the floor at Macworld!
The Woz and I may not have gone out for drinks, but we did
spend some quality time talking about the "ModBook," a tablet-based
product that incorporates an Apple Macbook along with handwriting
recognition and pen based drawing applications. AND you get to see this
historic interview next Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at the Psych Health
Centre at 7 pm!
In addition to my interview with the Woz, I had the opportunity to
chat with over 20 companies about their applications and discuss how
you can use them to be more competitive in 2009. Some of the highlights
include:
-
BoinxTv - a video podcasting application that enables you to add
visual fx during a live shoot and save yourself hours of post production
-
Widget Press - for developing web-based iPhone Applications via a graphical user interface.
-
ProSoft - a company that makes disk recovery, backup, and optimization tools for the Apple Genius Bar
-
Tiffen Dfx2 - Photoshop and Final Cut Pro filters to create some amazing fx in your creative work
-
LANschool - a tool for teachers/instructors to manage what students can see and do on their computers during a live lecture
-
LiveScribe - digital pen for writing "the old fashioned way" and
transcribing your written notes and drawings digitally to a computer
-
AnimeStudio - an animation tool that can quickly generate content using bones and tweens.
-
Notion Music - software for generating musical compositions and background accompaniment
-
mDialog - an online broadcasting tool that can help manage a revenue stream for your podcast
-
BeeDocs - a tool for creating 3D timelines to input in presentations, video projects, and online media
Of course that's just a few of the interviews we're going to showcase on Tuesday night. The rest are gong to be a surprise!
It's been a tradition over the past few MacWorlds that we give away
some awesome prizes. Not to be outdone by previous years, we've been
able to round up several thousand dollars in software from some of the
above vendors and more. You have to be a paid NMM member in order to
get entered into these draws and for $30/yr who wouldn't want to be?
This will most likely be our last Macworld. Where it goes from here is
anybody's guess, so we wanted to make it a memorable one. Show your
colours by bringing out your iPod Nanos and your iPhones/iPod Touches
and you may just find yourself heading home with a little extra swag!
A number of you have been following our 2009 Macworld adventure over at
www.newmediamanitoba.tv . Since posting the videos over a week ago,
we've re-jigged the footage to be even more special; with additional
scenes, and extra post-production that you can see only by showing up
to view the presentation in person.
Mark your calendar for January 27, 2009, and don't forget to
pre-register! This event is typically filled to capacity each year so
you'll want to get there early to find parking and grab a seat.
We look forward to seeing you out!
