Joe Silva - Composer On Tuesday, January 24, 2006, MNM presents, "Scoring for Film with Logic Pro 7," in the A/V Room at Psych Health on William. The meeting begins at 7:00 pm sharp. For a map with directions click here .
Joe Silva, noted movie and house music composer, returns to share his workflow scoring for film. Since Joe presented several years ago, a number of things have changed, namely; Logic Pro. On Tuesday night Joe will give us an overview of how he scores music by showing us his studio setup and talking about "The Spotting Session." He'll then take us through creating a MIDI-only score (with MIDI orchestration), followed by utilizing real instruments, and finishing with how he creates mock-ups. A question and answer session will follow.
The principles that Joe will be discussing are relevant to any audio
app that can create a soundtrack. If you don't have the money to buy
Logic Pro 7, don't worry! We're giving away a copy of Logic Express to
one lucky member in attendance (approx. value $400)! Even if you don't
win Logic, Apple's latest release of iLife '06 (under $100), now has
the ability to build a soundtrack for video using GarageBand. iLife '06
a great first step for budding audio and film composers.
Joe Silva has several scoring credits to his name as well as a number
of House tracks he's composed. To hear some samples of his work head to

Brock and I hope you can make it out!
