New Media Manitoba presents, "AJAX Attacks!" on Tuesday, May 23/06, at Psych Health on William. The meeting begins at 7 pm sharp and there is no charge to attend.
AJAX, shorthand for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, is a Web development technique for creating interactive web applications. The intent is to make web pages feel more responsive by exchanging small amounts of data with the server behind the scenes, so that the entire Web page does not have to be reloaded each time the user makes a change. This is meant to increase the Web page's interactivity, speed, and usability. {excerpt from Wikipedia.org}
In order to become a proficient Ajax Ninja you have to start somewhere and Peer Allan of BiPolar Software will help you with your first steps. Questions that Tuesday's meeting will cover include:
- What is AJAX?
- Why is it popular?
- When should I use it?
- What are some examples?
Peer will also show examples such as autocompletion text fields and real-time searching. As an added bonus, Peer will demonstrate the amazing new web framework "RubyOnRails" and its excellent integration with Ajax.
Is there something about AJAX or RubyOnRails that you have heard about or would like to see? Let
