On today's show we looked at tools to help teachers and students get back to school. Some of the products we discussed were:
• Edirol R-09 by Roland: This 24-bit recording and stereo mic from Roland is perfect for recording your lectures and uploading them to your Blog. It has an external line/mic in, auto gain control, phantom power, and records uncompressed or in MP3 onto a standard SD card.
• ezVision Video iWear: The ezVision simulates a 50" screen and can accept a video source via RCA cables or through it's iPod Video connection. Use it to watch training videos or view content in a more 'private' setting.
• Lapinator: With laptop computer batteries heating to unprecedented temperatures you'll want to protect yourself from unnecessary burns due to overheating. The Lapinator has received rave reviews for its ergonomic design and Thinsulate coating that blocks 95% of laptop heat. It's thin enough to fit inside your bag and has a slip-resistant coating to prevent your computer from taking a nasty tumble. Update: the Lapinator
is only $24.95, not $60 as accidentally mentioned on air.
• AverVision 150: The AverVision 150 is equipped with a 3-MegaPixel Camera and snaps video and photos of your notes, documents, quarterly reports and even microscopic objects. 'Averzoom' technology allows you to zoom in and out without adjusting the telescopic arm. It can hold up to 35 photos internally, so if you're an instructor, you can have a number of your assignments and formulas at the ready.
• Fly PenTop Computer: The Fly is primarily targeted at tweens ranging from grades 3 - 9. It uses special paper that enables you to draw and play a keyboard, create a calculator, translate languages, record notes, create a scheduler, and plugin other educational/ entertainment features.
