On Tuesday, October 24/06, Kert Gartner; Frantic Films' compositor extraordinaire, will present the Visual FX of Superman. The presentation is on the 2nd floor of the Psych Health Centre and begins at 7:00 pm sharp. There is no charge to attend and all are welcome.
Kert will go through a number of shots he completed for Superman Returns and show how some of these complex scenes were built using Digital Fusion. For some background on Digital Fusion, the software behind Tuesday night's presentation, visit www.eyeonline.com. Update: We will be giving away a FULL retail verion of Fusion 5 to one lucky New Media Manitoba Subscriber in attendance. The value of this software is over $5000 USD! Your chances to win have never been better! The first 40-attendees will receive a watermakred version of Fusion 5 along with in-disk training.
Kert is a longtime trainer with New Media Manitoba. If you've attended any of his sessions in the past you'll know that most of the seating fills up quick. Get there early if you want a choice seat and watch Kert rebuild the VFX magic that went into Superman Returns. For more information on this and other films Frantic has worked on visit www.franticfilms.com. Some of Frantic's other VFX film credits include Resident Evil 2, The Day After Tomorrow, The Italian Job, X2: X-Men United, The Core, Scooby Doo 2, Cat Woman, and SwordFish.
Tuesday night will be a rare opportunity for a glimpse at some of the
FX that is reserved for only choice Hollywood studios. Frantic's work
has firmly rooted them as VFX specialists and Kert's presentation will
be an insight into the quality and creativity it takes to work in this
industry. On Tuesday, Superman comes to NMM. We hope you will join us.
