We round out the holiday gift giving with a focus on the creative and the athletic geek in your life. Some of the products we looked at on the show included:
The Intuos 3 Tablet from Wacom is like having a creative epiphany - you'll wonder why you ever used a mouse all these years. Wacom offers several variations on the tablet starting with folks looking for a natural way to tweak and clean up their photos all the way to the professional artist who paints for a living. Tablet sizes start at 4" x 6" all the way up to 12" x 19". The 6" x 8" Tablet we demo'ed is the ideal middle-road if you want to delve into photo-restoration, digital painting, image manipulation, and illustration. The Intuos 3 would be a welcome gift for the creative in your life.
The Spyder 2 Suite from Color Vision is one of those products you
didn't know you needed until you use it. CRT and LCD monitors can
display colour that is drastically different from one another. Even
top-end LCDs that come calibrated can be slightly out when viewing the
same image side by side. Once you try printing a photo or image the
printed piece can look completely at odds with what you just viewed
on-screen. The Spyder 2 Suite not only calibrates your monitor but your
printer too, so what you see on on-screen is what you get on
paper. The Spyder 2 Suite can be found locally at London Drugs.
The Suunto T4 is equipped with a Coach feature that tells you when you
should exercise, at what intensity, and for how long. Don't worry if
you miss a session or train too hard because the T4 adapts to the way
you train and then updates your workout strategy. The T4 can also be
joined with a GPS or Bike Pod to track the distance of your
workouts. Connect to your PC and monitor your progress throughout the
year. I've been using the T4 for over a week and I love the accuracy of
monitoring my heart rate and tracking the calories I've burned. This is
exactly the kind of product to keep you motivated from start to finish.
You can find the Suunto T4 at your local Sunglass Hut in Canada.
The PumpOne's PumpedForLife regimen will give you a body that only your
PC club could dream about. This program turns your iPod into a
visual personal trainer. A variety of workout routines can take you
through a year of exercise in Cardio, Hatha Yoga, Strength
Conditioning, and Cross Training. I liked the detailed photos that
effectively display the proper way to exercise on both the Video and
Photo versions of the iPod, and iPod Nano. You can download a sample
workout routine from PumpOne's website to see what it's all
about. Make Arnold proud and pump it up.
