Dr. David Vogt This year a handful of associations have all joined together to spread some holiday cheer in one grand gathering! The Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC), Adobe User Group of Winnipeg (Flash in the 'Peg), Manitoba Interactive Media Association (MIDMA), the International Game Developers Association (IGDA), Film Training Manitoba (FTM), and of course New Media Manitoba (us), are all getting together at Finn McCue's in the Forks on Thursday December 6, 2007.
The goal of this event is to share an opportunity to mingle over drinks and finger food and get to know fellow members from related industries. You must register in order to attend so we have an idea how much food to order. A board will also be posted at the door with the names and respective industries of all registrants. What better way to find a Graphic Designer, Game Developer, Film/TV Producer, or New Media Developer for your next project?
A Holiday Mashup of Media and Meaning
What's a holiday party without a good creation story? In addition to our festivities we'll have a guest speaker from Vancouver joining us for a special half-hour presentation. Canada's creative industries are well poised to tell exceptional stories on the world stage. As our media-obsessed planet dives into web 2.0, the new focus on identity is just a mashup of traditional quests for meaning in life. Digital media innovator David Vogt will provide some festive insights based on ancient myths, human realities and virtual opportunities.
David's biography can be viewed at http://crowdtrust.net/memos/show/3513
Please enter your registration early if you intend to come. There will be some awesome giveaways included like a $700 copy of Adobe Flash CS3.
We hope to see you there!
Kevin
